This is an excellent opportunity for a Lead Clinician- AB Services (32-40 hours/week) at either our Milwaukee, Madison or Appleton AB Centers.
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Lead Clinician is responsible for leading, planning and administering quality health care in specialty services settings such as abortion services and miscarriage management. The Lead Clinician works in conjunction with the Director of Clinical Services and the Director of Abortion Services to ensure that high quality care is delivered in a customer service driven environment. The Lead Clinician works collaboratively with physicians, clinicians, registered nurses and ancillary staff.
Under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Services, Statewide Medical Director (SMD) / Associate Medical Director (AMD), the Lead Clinician ensures that clinical services are provided in accordance with Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin's protocols, policies and procedures in abortion services and any new specialty service. The role is actively engaged with compliance oversight to ensure alignment with all organizational, risk and quality assurance guidelines and all pertinent government regulations including but not limited to state/federal law, infection control, OSHA and CLIA regulations.
In addition, the Lead Clinician will create a physician based practice model of care for abortion and specialty services and provide direct supervision of the clinicians and registered nurses involved in these services. The position provides improved delivery of patient care by strengthening the training, orientation and monitoring (chart documentation, medical follow-up, incidents, etc.) of physicians as well as training, orientation and evaluating licensed and unlicensed staff throughout the state.

Must have comprehensive knowledge of training, orienting, mentoring and monitoring of staff.
They must demonstrate an excellent understanding of medical delivery systems, clinical issues, agency standards, guidelines, policies and procedures. Strong organizational skills with adherence to detail, and computer literacy is required. Must have demonstrated leadership skills.
Demonstrated clinical proficiency, organizational, analytical, leadership and interpersonal communication skills required. Demonstrated ability to manage health-related emergency conditions using independent decision-making.
SUPERVISORY
Experience:
Supervises 1-3 direct reports. Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory/lead experience required. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
EDUCATION and/or
Experience:
Must be an Advanced Practice Nurse with current license as a Registered Nurse by the State of Wisconsin, certification by a national credentialing body as a nurse practitioner or certified Nurse Midwife (e.g. NCC, ANCC, AMCB). Bachelor's degree in nursing required. Master's degree in nursing or related health field preferred. CPR certification required.
Minimum of two (2) year's work experience as a clinician, with experience in family planning, women's health or an ob/gyn setting required. One year (1) experience as a clinician with PPWI or other Planned Parenthood affiliate required. Experience in quality/risk management system development required, preferably in a multi-sit clinical operation.
Electronic Health Record experience preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The position is generally performed in a medical office environment but involves frequent interruptions.
Will work with blood or blood-borne pathogens and will require OSHA training which will include extensive safety precautions and the use of protective equipment.
Must have own reliable transportation. This position requires travel statewide, therefore a valid driver's license and auto insurance in accordance with agency liability standards is required.
Evening and/or weekend hours may be necessary.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIESincluding, but not limited to, the following:
A. Clinical Duties
Responsible for assessing, planning and administering health care (including contraception) which is individualized to the patient and consistent with the policies and protocols of PPFA and PPWI.
Provides counseling and instruction on medication and surgical abortion, contraceptive methods and general health care.
Performs duties in medical and surgical abortion programs, including review of medical history, ultrasound, post medical and surgical complication assessment and referral, and management of patient needs as required.
Monitors medical aspects of all medical services offered at the health center, acting as a resource to center staff and patients regarding medical concerns, in collaboration with the Director of Abortion Services and the Associate Medical Director.
B. Administrative Duties
Work with the Director of Clinical Services and Statewide Medical Director / Associate Medical Director to establish standards of care and compliance relating to clinical practice including rollout of new services/initiatives.
Under the direction of the Associate Medical Director and Director of Clinical Services, review PPFA Standards and Guidelines on an ongoing basis in order to develop internal protocols that guide/govern the delivery of patient care in PPWI health centers.
Provide direct supervision to clinicians and registered nurses and provide coaching, support and mentoring for ongoing development.
Work with Associate Medical Director to supervise the professional practice of all physicians, including but not limited to the monitoring of technique, proficiency, quality of care, outcomes and compliance with productivity standards and medical protocols.
Develop, in conjunction with Director of Clinical Services and Risk and Quality Manager, a quality assurance program related to each specialty service including site reviews and audits.
